Inspiring Story
Part of an article from the Post about a guy who went from a near death accident to Ironman in a couple of years:
Last weekend, the bike went nowhere, the running shoes sat in the closet and Brian Boyle took a minute to reflect on the season just ended and the lifetime ahead.
Since the near-certainty of death four years ago -- few people who tangle with a moving dump truck survive -- he has competed in two Ironman world championships, the longest one a 2.4-mile swim followed by a 112-mile bike race and then a 26.2-mile marathon, all on a single day.

He did both races, and halfway through the 112-mile bike leg in Hawaii, he turned at the top of a huge hill and began to race down it.
"I just started yelling, screaming. I let it all out right there, all the agony and emotion. I wasn't Brian Boyle, the sick boy. I was Brian Boyle, the Ironman," he said.

Nike's Best of the Best
"Twenty-three years ago, Nike landed one of the greatest endorsements of all time: rookie basketball player Michael Jordan. The company designed a red and black sneaker for the star, but the shoe was banned by the NBA because it violated color rules. Jordan wore them anyway, racking up $5,000 in fines per game. The publicity that followed scored Nike a major hit: By May of 1985, the company had sold and received orders for $70 million worth of Jordans, and overall company revenues jumped 37%."

7
I did an easy 7 from the house yesterday. I would say it was my best run since I took two weeks off for plantar fasciitis. I know 7 miles isnt much, but I am really excited about running and feeling better daily.

I need to update the links on this site
My internet viewing has definitely changed since I originally created the list.
Here is a good article about Bush...I agree that things have gotten a little ridiculous

google trends
I was reading an article about how to kill time now that election is over, and it led me to google trends. Check it out: http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends?sa=X
Not surprisingly Michelle Obama's dress is in the top 25, less surprising is multnomah county elections in at 37.
I guess I should point out running has been interesting recently. Last week was definitely a down week. I took a couple days off and my foot returned to its peak pain, which isnt that bad but it does affect my stride. Fortunately, today was better.
