I took two weeks off to try and ward off some plantar fascitis. It was never so bad, that I couldnt run, but I thought it was better to deal with it now rather than in the spring. Unfortunately I cant tell if it is completely healed now, but I am going to just build up the miles and see what happens.
My first run back was actually somewhat eventful, even though it was only 3.6 miles. My first mile was around 7:30, followed by a mile where a group of kids in silver spring commented on how short my shorts were(of course i replied, albeit weakly) and where I was raced by a guy going unbelievably slow until the second I passed him and he picked it up attempting to stay with me, so I picked it up taking what was going to be about a 7 minute mile to a sub 6 minute in just a short hard(all-out) burst, and finishing with a mile just under 7 minutes.
There was an incident last year where I was passed on an easy run by I guy I passed and I have never really gotten past that, so that explains why I wasnt taking any chances today.

This same thing frequently seems happens to me on the Capital Crescent, often near Silver Spring. I share your frustration.
The CCT and Silver Spring must be where all of the pissing-match jokers like to hang out.
